There appears to be someone here at work that I fear will ask me out soon. This is not good. I'm in a relationship right now, but even if I weren't, there are major issues with this. I used to work with Rose, but we avoided any extracurricular activity for as long as we could because these types of things are just too sticky. There's an expression for this: Don't shit where you eat. What a sick expression.
This girl is pretty much as opposite to Rose as you can get. Rose is petite, white and knowledgeable about spirituality and French literature. This other is tall, black and knowledgeable about urban black and Haitian culture. And feelings aside, I am attracted to Rose, and not to the other.
I don't know why suddenly she decided to start talking to me now, but I have seen this before. The slow, deliberate edging of oneself into someone's life. Everything about her seems suspicious. Not that she's not nice or anything, she is.
This week I started avoiding her, or rather, I continued to act towards her the way I always have, with no special courtesies or time spent with her. She seems to have backed off a bit. I hope this doesn't affect me using her car when I need it.
